My answer to Ian Bramham's (10 night pics F30, s5 Pro)

I have been away for a while... So glad that Ian's wonderful night pics have finally made me want to post again.

"I've come to the conclusion over the last 6 weeks since getting a DSLR that the difference between a taking a good location photo and an outstanding one is 99% about finding an interesting location with interesting light. The rest is comparatively easy with any modern camera."
