any samle 16mm pictures

hey im tryign to decide wheter 16mm is wide enough for pictures inside paris catherdrals and such should i pick up the 16-80mm vr lens rumor if it comes out

anyone have sample pics at this focal range

remember that the only current 16mm nikkor lens is a fisheye. The new kit lens that has surfaced is not a fisheye - it is a rectilinear or regular zoom lens.

The 16mm fisheye is a fx (full frame lens) which is quite handy if you are thinking about buying an fx camera later on.

I think that for interior shots in a cathedral you might want to go a little wider, like a 12-24mm but they are quite expensive.

If you want to get an entire dome in one shot it will likely not be wide enough sometimes. Getting it all in may not be the most interesting shot anyway.

what do you extacly mean by fx ??

oh i see would 16 provide i decent image vs an 18 or is 16 virutally the same

FX is full frame sensor equal to 35mm film frame. D3 is the only Nikon cam with it.
DX is the central 50%(approx) of that 35mm frame.

16mm Nikkor is a fish-eye on ff and the central cropped area lessens the fish-eye effect.

To answer your question:

Nikkor 12-24 is arguable the best lens but other wides like the non-Nikkors are what you need for cathedrals if you want wide shots.

the extra 2mm does actualy make a diference i thought there would be virutally no difference but there is

i think it might do me ok inside a catherdral the ultra wide zooms would be lovely but they are very pricey
