Japanese Macaque Monkeys (E-3+50-200mm, 6 images)

Spent the afternoon in Arashiyama which is the northwestern most part of Kyoto city. Don't let the word city fool you. Arashiyama is well known for it's beautiful river, nature, old world/small town charm, food, and monkeys.

There is a monkey park on top of one of the local mountains. For a small fee and a short hike, you can be surrounded by Japanese Macaques (aka snow monkeys, the original "see, hear and speak no evil" characters). They are used to visitors so they're not very aggressive unless you try to stare down one of the males (one didn't like the look of my lens and let me know it by scaring me half to death) or pull out a piece of food.
