It's been a while! I've come by to say hi to old friends.
I have been away from this forum for a while and just wanted to stop by and shout out to my old friends here. I haven't been active in online chat forums for quite a while. A number of reasons have taken me away, but I come by every once in a while and lurk. A brief update on my happenings, since falling off the face of the earth. Last January I retired from university teaching after thirty-four years. Part of my decision to retire, was do to family health concerns and those commitments, and also to pursue some personal creative imperatives. I do miss the classroom but have been very busy with other fulfilling pursuits. My former university helped me start an organization to deal with issues related to homelessness. It is comprised of students and others from the college community. In addition we have expanded out to include other universities, civic groups churches and individuals. Anyway it's fantastic to know that this whole thing sprang out of my street photo work on homeless portraits. Can a picture create action..... Now I know the answer firsthand. "Yes!" I have been busy with the organization and all that it involves. I still manage to get out and take photos, be it not as often as I envisioned retirement would allow. I hope to spend more and more time with the camera as the organization grows. I would have never thought I would ever have become an activist especially via photography. I have to confess to now mostly shooting a 5D Canon. Took a chunk of retirement money and bought myself a complete system. I still have and will never sell my A1 and A2. The A2 is always in my car with me. Still do love that little gem! As I said I look and lurk once in a while here. I lurk a bit at the Canon forum. Nowhere near as nice and nurturing as here though. I really don't post there for fear of the pro's having a field day on my naive carcass. Does the word Troll come to mind? I hope to come by more often and see your works and say howdy to you all. This is a great corner of the photo world. I have enjoyed all my time here.
My Best Regards to you all!! Happy, healthy, holidays, to you and yours!!!!!
