PrinzGalaxy (Spiratone) 400mm F/6.3 Lens test

Having a spare half hour this morning I was finally able to test my Prinz Galaxy (aka Spiratone) 400mm F/6.3 Lens which I bought off auction site for £4.99

Quite a large and cumbersome lens!

Having tried the lens I have noticed a few issues:

Firstly I can't seem to focus on infinity. However on the lens barrel there is a small screw which seems to act as a focus stop, perhaps if I undo this I'll be able to focus to infinity?

Small DoF at F/6.3

Quite a dark lens gives a dark viewfinder. However the lens has an aperture preset ring so you need to focus at wide open, then turn the aperture ring to the preset before taking the shot.

However there is no obvious lens fungus, nor scratches on the elements, and it's quite an easy lens to dismantle!

Some sample pics (nothing special as there were no wildlife to be seen!) No sharpening, just resized jpgs straight from the K100D

Focusing on the black bollard:

Focusing on the dog:

Not very interesting tests I know, hopefully I'll be able to visit a nature reserve nearby which has screen off bird feeders with viewing holes so I can try birding with the lens.

Can't complain about the lens performance for what I paid for it!
