Fast and wide lens

the falling dollar compared to what?

atleast compared to the canadian dollar its been rising for nearly a month now

also dont be suprised if the rebates stick around for awhile :)

otherwise great lens, congrats.

but again, why bother with a fast lens if you wont shoot at those apertures?
I did a bunch of reading and ended up going for the 31mm limited.
I just ordered it from Abe's of Maine for $849, plus I sprang for the
2nd day air shipping.

My rationalizations:
When the rebate expires the price goes up $100.
With the falling dollar, the price will continue going up.
Comparing it with the Sigmas the Pentax reviews varied from "great"
to "the only lens I really need", the Sigma reviews were generally
"It's a good lens, but...."
With the $200 of rebates I'll get between the lens and camera, I'm
still paying about what a friend did for her Canon D40 body.

Sometime down the line I'll likely spring for the 70-300mm lens, but
the 31 for indoors and the 14-55 for a general purpose should handle
most of my shooting needs.
