Maybe the shutter's not a problem

I've been reading up on sensor technology (mainly with respect to noise).

One article said that high-end CMOS digital cameras are using an intermediate capacitor to store the collected charge.

1. Reset -- simultaneous for all pixels
2. Expose
3. Transfer charge from photodiode onto capacitor (1-stage CCD!)
-- simultaneous for all pixels
4. Readout at leasure
-- the capacitor isn't collecting photon or dark-current electrons.

So you might be able to do without a shutter after all.

ps -- I've heard that Armadillos stink like heck -- does that improve the quality of Armadillo soup?
