Thank you for sharing. Care to say something more?

Yes, I would like to.

You are imagining that I am a brand zealot, and that I am now eating my humble pie. That illusion is the product of your lack of comprehension of more complex outlooks than your own.

In the other threads where I have met you, you raved about the D300 and how it is a 5D killer. It is not; the D300 is very similar to the D200, but with more and smaller pixels. The D3 is newer, better technology, and a good step into the future.

Furthermore, early JPEG samples, as I suggested, were incapable of giving a full picture. Both D3 and D300 early JPEG samples showed artifacts of aggressive noise reduction. In the case of the D3, it was perhaps overdone, which made it appear that the D3 may not have been as big a step forward as Nikon was claiming (there was color bleed, suggesting a heavy chromatic noise filtering).
