Helpful, knowledgeable, interesting, talented, extending oneself are only a few of the terms that come to mind from the interactions and feedback that I have received from individuals with whom I have come in contact on this forum in the short period I have been posting various inquiries relative to the new Pentax K10D that I have purchased. Not only are the responses all of the above but they are international is scope (a regular United Nations of photgraphic interests without the BS that the actual UN generates).

Thanks to one and all for your helpful inputs and I look forward to a continuing dialogue in the future

I am glad that you are finding the forum a valuable source of information and assistance. It is indeed a valuable resource.

I think this forum can actually make a positive impact to users and their requirements whereas the real UN is a useless conglomerate of fat cats running around the world achieving nothing and making many situations worse and getting paid handsomly to do it.

Thank you, Lance, for your comments on the forum. As an add on to your comments on the UN, if they had their meetings and conferences in rather austere locals with modest menus rather than Geneva, Davos etc etc problems would get solved quicker and would not drag on for years. Who wants to hurry when you are dining in Geneva? Let's milk this situation for all that it is worth.

Enough let's get back to photography!

Thanks for the complements, most here are only too happy to help and the depth of knowledge is amazing.

Dean, I really mean it. To many times forums turn into put down sessions where ego rather than intellect is the fashion. This forum is very refreshing in that respect. There is an intelligent adult approach to share and help. Very nice indeed.

It maybe less here than on other forums, but sometimes that happens here too, unfortunately. Generally though, I think it is a very good forum.

My poor old other self used to like it here too. Then the stupidity around the K10D arrived and never left. It's odd how I find myself agreeing with George more often than not....

Lance, if you and the boys (and girls) have been hiding someplace new, I'd appreciate a polite email telling where. Other than Pentax Forums, which is a different crowd. I promise I won't bring anything other than a nice bottle or two of Penfolds and a couple of aged ribeyes....

I'm new to the forum and the K10D. What exactly is the "stupidity around the K10D"? I seriously would like to know. As I explained in my intro post a few minutes ago, I couldn't be happier with my new K10D compared to the Sigma SD-9 I'd been using the past few years.

Terry

... the number of local and international friendships that have formed out of the forum. In the almost 4 yrs I have been posted here I have literally met 2 or 3 dozen forum particpants in real life. Back in 2004 in Sydney Lance B and I started hanging out for photo shoots, coffee, or family BBQs. We met and still meet other forum visitors to our country and I have even hosted them in my own home when they didn't have a bed! Last year when I was in France, a half dozen forum members travelled from as far away at the UK, Belgium, Netherlands and Sweeden to catch up in Paris for a weekend. Of course back in August we had the Wallerawang photo shoot and more than a dozen forum members gave their services for the day. And these are just the interactions that have been part of my life from the forum, let alone all the other people around the world.

Thanks for reminding me of the great things that come out of the forum!

Regards
