Are you saying that in a color-managed application, an untagged sRGB image will be oversaturated? I thought all untagged images were assumed to be sRGB and thus interpreted as such by color-managed applications...

I was under the impression that if you had a wide-gamut display and were using a color-managed application that:

  • A tagged sRGB image would be displayed correctly.

  • An untagged sRGB image would be assumed to be sRGB and thus displayed correctly.

  • A tagged aRGB image would be displayed correctly.

  • An untagged aRGB image would be assumed to be sRGB and thus appear washed out.

Am I mistaken?
