Here's what I found ...

I took the back side (mount point) off and found the a foil contact had come loose. The foil contact is on a plastic film glued (adhesive) to the inside of an unknown part.

The tip had come loose and was "clicking" when a metal part went beyond it.

I'll have to take this in to have it professionaly repaired. I cannot glue the tip of this film back on. While they are in there, the elements can be cleaned. There's a bit of dust in there.

Think of a rug corner getting caught under a door when it opens and closes.

Make sense?

What can I expect to pay for lens cleaning - Nikon and local?
