thank you for the comments. This experience has changed my life more than you will ever know.

As far as the panning, I would leave the SR on (I didn't actually think about it too much) maybe try it without. The shutter speed was around 1/20 - 1/30, and I always had the Sigma 100-300 on a monopod, this seemed to work really well, as there was no room for a tripod. Just experiment with slow shutter speeds, this is one a my favourite and most exciting techniques. Anyone can take a sharp picture right? I just tried to make it interesting and different.
