Took my brand new A700 to the Blues on the Bay Air Show in Kaneohe and had a blast! Camera is very responsive and capable of taking some pretty amazing shots! These shot are straight from the camera, no post processing whatsoever. Setting is Standard +1, +1, +2. These were all shot with Beercan. What do you think? This is my first air show.

I should have also mentioned this is my first (and second) post. I've been a long-time lurker. Thanks to everyone for your discussions and comments! I've learned a lot here!!

Looks good Paul!

Yes, the +2 Sharpening setting makes a big difference in straight-from-the-camera JPGs.

And you did some tweaking before you took the images. +1 sharp +1 contrast battles the otherwise soft looking pics from a700.

Actually Mark is correct. This is +2 sharpening. Contrast +1, Saturation +1. Ev +2/3 in some shots.

This 20-25 year old lens still continually amazes me!

Only my opinion. It's worth what you paid for it. Your mileage may vary! ;-}

Beercan is supposed to be a slow focuser, but on the A700 it can definitely capture the moment.

Flew right over my head in this shot!

You did some outstanding work IMO.

I have both the Beercan and the new 70-200G SSM and the old Beercan still amazes me, especially considering its age and the fact it cost 1/12 the price!

BTW, one of the ex-leads of the Blues was a good friend and we flew together for a year at Nellis.
