40D, Mets and Marlins

Took my new 40D to its first MLB game today, Mets vs. Marlins. Took my 30D to five previous games this season. The 40D did alot better than my 30D did. I have always used my 200 f/2.8L w/ Canon 1.4x TC at these games, and have usually gotten about an 80% to 85% in-focus rate with the 30D. Today with the 40D and same lens, I got a 94% in-focus rate out of 204 images taken. The game was overcast and it lightly sprinkled the whole time. Used Av mode, ISO ranged between 500 and 800, f/4, CWA metering, Cloudy WB and Ai Servo. The 6.5 fps was very nice. Shutter speeds ranged between 1/2000 and 1/3200. I think the 40D did an outstanding job for me today and I'm very pleased with it and its Ai Servo performance. Comments welcome.

Dan Uggla dives for a grounder and he snags it.

Dan quickly gets up on his knees and throws the batter out at 1st.

Out at home. This was for the tying run late in the game.

Safe at home. This was earlier in the game.

Out at 2nd.

Hanley Ramirez scoops up a grounder.....

and throws out the batter at 1st.

Ball leaving hand shot.

Another ball leaving hand shot.
