Hi there,

after I saw this thread ( http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1033&thread=24082504 )

from John Bean I knew that I wanted to take some pictures like this and after some disappointing results because of too much light I was able to achieve these.

No. 1 and to at f/5,6 1,6 sec
No. 3 f/5,6 2,5 sec at 19mm with Nikon WC-E68.

I think I should get a tripod to achieve more composing possibilities.

Every comment and critic as always appreciated.

Greetings
Markus

Thank you Ken,

there were enough rocks to place the camera, but I think with a tripod you can achieve some different angles and perspectives.

Beautiful images, I am surprised that you were able to get such good
results without using a tripod - tripod's the way to go for these
kind of shots.

..be proud of your work, I really like #2, for the composition of the rocks on the bank & the flowing water below, the wcon appears to be a very good add on as well, well done & thanks for posting...Ron S

Hi Markus,

these are great compositions, and very well executed.

Actually, if you can get shots this good without a tripod, I'd recommend you continue to travel light... it's a lot quicker, and you're a lot more flexible composing without a tripod.

Well Done, and thanks for sharing.

Kind Regards

Brian

Hi ron,

thank you very much for your kind comments. The wcon works really nice, a big thank you to doctordave for posting his construction manual for the adapter.

Thank you Brian,

I've sold my Nikon F80 and bought the LX2 because I want to travl light, but I think for this kind of shots a tripod gives you much more possibilities for composing the shot.

Thank you Erik, glad you liked them.

Really excellent!

I'm a fan of #s 1 & 2 - especially #2

Good job of finding great compositions from random rocks - waiting
until you get a tripod!

Cheers -Erik

Markus, nice shots man! Really like #2, #3. Anyway, so you didn't use a neutral density filter at all? I guess if there wasn't a lot of sunlight which it doesn't look like, you would be ok. But dang, handheld shots at 1.6 and 2.5 sec is impressive.

Thank you Tyler,

it was an overcasted day about 1 hour before sunset, so no sunshine and no filter. They were not handheld, I placed the cam on the rocks.

Alll three are extremely good. Don't let people talk you down on #2 because I like it and think it would be the most likely candidate for a calendar. At this size I'd be hard pressed to tell it apart from a film shot.

Great work on all three photographs.
