Re: Nikkor 200-400mm f/4 vs 400mm f/2.8

I had a 80-400VR and 300mm f2.8 (1.4x and 2x TCs) and used them for motorsports. I loved the 300mm for its focusing speed compared to the 80-400, but lovedthe 80-400 for its versatility.

So I bought a 200-400 VR, have sold the 300mm and have the 80-400VR on ebay at the moment. My next purchase is the 70-200 VR then I'm done.

Fixed focus is great when you can plan your shots and you know what is going to happen, for me with motorsports this isn't possible and I need the flexibilty of zooms.
