worth buying a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 mk II?

I think that a better deal is...

I have the 50mm f/1.8 Mark-I which has a much better build and includes a focusing scale (great for learning about depth of field or for pre-focusing in dim conditions).

I paid about $35 more for a used Mark-I than I would have paid for a new Mark-II. It is still a very inexpensive lens. I consider the extra few bucks well worth it.

Obviously many other photographers think the same way because a used Mark-I will always cost more than a new Mark-II.

Retired Navy Master Chief Photographer's Mate. I was a Combat Cameraman, Motion Picture Director, and a Naval Aircrewman. I also had experience in reconnaissance and intelligence photography. I have had considerable commercial photo experience in weddings and advertising photography. I am fully retired now although I dabble occasionally in dog portraiture. I presently use Canon DSLR cameras.
