hi all

i just got a new transend 2gb 150X speed car i'm using with my canon S3is and when i take it out of the camera and put it in a card reader to transfer pics to my computer the card does nothing when in the card reader, it works when i download the pics directly from the camera ...is there a reason why this card won't work with a card reader while all my other slower speed cards have no problems with card readers

thanks for any help

Have you formatted the card while in the S3IS? Could be one cause. Also is it used in other cameras besides the S3IS?

no i have not formated the card in the S3 . i was looking for that feature in the menu system and never noticed any format card , does the S3 have format card feature ??i thought "erase card" was pretty much the same thing. and no i i bought this card only for my S3 and have not used it in any other device.

Format should be in Menu> Setup> Format. There is also an option to Low Level format, this overwrites all data on the card and would usually only be needed if the card seems to be slowing down or losing capacity.

Even though there is a Standard for SD cards it's likely that your card reader can't cope with the later faster cards and SDHC cards. I doubt that it's anything to do with the camera.
