as an owner of both 200/2 and 70-200/2.8, let me tell you that the
difference is pretty stout. The 70-200 is an excellent lens that will
hold up to most any prime thrown at it. Except the 200/2. The 200/2
wide open is at least equally as sharp as the 70-200/2.8 stopped down
to F/8. Stop the 200/2 down a bit, and it's on another planet and
easily beyond the D2X sensor in terms of resolution I would think.

The real reason to own the lens isn't all that resolution though -
it's just the way the lens removes barriers between you and the image

  • it's artistic rendering is unmatched, by anything else out there -

and once you own it, you'll find ways to use it. It just connects you
more, as goofy as that sounds.

By the way, let's seem some shots when you get the 100/2 Makro Planar
in, ok?

(not that I can afford that lens given I have purchased a 200/2 this
year, but I'm still curious)

Thanx for the input!

As of now iv decided to hold off. Im gonna see if i really need more then 100mm/2 Zeiss for my tele end. As i said i rarely shoot with my 70-200/2,8 since i only use it for 200mm.

But if the tax return this xmas is as good as i think it will be, then i might consider it again. But now i have a hard time justify such an expensive glas.

Will post my impression of the 100mm/2 and the rest of line, im getting all the zeiss by next week. (except for the 50mm/1,4, since i already have the 50mm/2)

Thanx again for your input.
