as an owner of both 200/2 and 70-200/2.8, let me tell you that the difference is pretty stout. The 70-200 is an excellent lens that will hold up to most any prime thrown at it. Except the 200/2. The 200/2 wide open is at least equally as sharp as the 70-200/2.8 stopped down to F/8. Stop the 200/2 down a bit, and it's on another planet and easily beyond the D2X sensor in terms of resolution I would think.

The real reason to own the lens isn't all that resolution though - it's just the way the lens removes barriers between you and the image - it's artistic rendering is unmatched, by anything else out there - and once you own it, you'll find ways to use it. It just connects you more, as goofy as that sounds.

By the way, let's seem some shots when you get the 100/2 Makro Planar in, ok?

(not that I can afford that lens given I have purchased a 200/2 this year, but I'm still curious)
