Hey Gene, sorry about the lack of description. I'll mostly be using
it for sports photography (mostly soccer). I'm on the yearbook staff
for school, so I'll be using it all the time to get some good shots
of the different sports.

If you're shooting daytime sports outside, any of those will work for you with the good light. Where you'll have difficulty is indoors our at night. I've had the 100-300 and the I have the 70-200 f/4L. They both feature ring-type usm which is very fast and helpful for sports. I also have the Canon 1.4 extender which makes the 70-200 a 98-280 f/5.6 lens which I find to be a little higher quality than the 100-300 but then you're at a lot more expensive combination.

Another thing to consider would be the 200 2.8 prime and maybe the 1.4 extender with that. Then you'll have the option of a 2.8 prime when you have less light and if you need more range you'll have a 280 f/4 with the extender.
