I'm new to photography so bare with me.

2 problems I have with the concept of this lens.

first is you don't get the full effect of a fish eye on a dslr such
as the k10D because of the sensor size as oppose to a FF film camera.
I mean even uncorrected pictures barely have any fisheye distortion
in them, maybe a little on the sides as oppose to quiet a bit with a
true fisheye.

secondly why bother correcting all these pictures when you shot in
fisheye to begin with? is this a fisheye thread or a masochistic
thread? I'm missing the whole fisheye concept.

Why not just use a wide angle lens if you guys keep correcting the

again I'm playing devils advocate and by no means am I knocking this
lens just trying to see it from your eyes and learn a thing or two
about fisheye as can see having alot of fun with a true fisheye lens
on the right camera.

I have a Pentax 16mm fish-eye which I used in my film days for the fish-eye effect, now using it on my DSLR with their cropped sensors it's really only truly useful to me as an ultra-wide when corrected to provide a rectilinear view. That said it provides quite acceptable results when corrected, particularly given it's speed and size relative to rectilinear cropped frame lenses offering a similar angle of view. Correction is no real problem, it's just another step during post processing if you have your system set up well.

If anyone is after a "real" full frame fish-eye effect on a Pentax DSLR they obviously can't expect it from a 16mm lens, thankfully there are lenses than fit the bill now.
