Why does the SD14 take better pictures than my 30D?

I've been looking at other pictures from various cameras on the net and within pbase, and it strikes me that Sigmas SD14's take significantly better photos than a 30D.

I have the following questions:

Is it that Sigma SD14 owners in general are better photographers?
Or is it that the Sigma lenses in use are sharper in general then Canons?
Or is it my imagination?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to switch due to all the Canon lenses I own. It would be a waste of money, but I'm really intrigued. What makes their pictures so much cleaner / sharper?
