The patent office has gone to sleep ...

I'm a major shareholder in a company that is trying to obtain a patent for a medical widget. The real problem is when you try to explain why your widget doesn't infringe on x or y ... you essentially have to invalidate some farcical patents to make yours stick.

Most of these patents should never have been issued; in fact, some cannot be made with today's technology, which means that a patent is not allowed. (Patents are for implementations, not ideas!)

This guy (the patent holder) is gonna spend a lot of money on lawyers, and get nothing ... I hope.
