Canon date code??
I purchased a 70-200 f4 L IS USM Canon lens from our local Shutter Bug. I asked if their lenses where USA or gray market lenses because I did not want a gray market lens. They told me they did not sell gray market lenses. Well I don't know if such is the case because the lens that I bought has no manufacturing code stamped on the back of the lense, only a serial number one the polised metal ring at the back of the lens. I noted that a code is marked on the black inner ring enclosing the rear glass on other L lenses. I have a feeling that the lacking of such a code number is an indicatation that I do not have a USA made by canon but a gray market. If such is the case am I stuck with a fabrication, someone else is making Canon L lenses for them like China??
I would like to thank you for any nformation.
