Why is D200 that much noiser than D80?

Even shooting RAW the D200 is noisier, than the D80 and D40X. Nikon
engineers used the time between the releases of the cams to to
drive progress - what we expect them to do. BTW, shooting RAW the
D80 and D40X are on par.

Some of the posters above already pointed out that a camera is a
package of many features and attributes - Noise is just one. Look
at it, assess it and move on with you decision process if the D200
fits your requirements better then the D80.

Ofcourse! I was just interested in why Nikon didn't "fix" this with later relases of D200 (or maybe a D200s), and I've recieved many good answers (though a lot of people got angry when I said the jpegs from D80 were better)
