Simple question... not so simple answer...

Is there a concensus on which photo printer to buy that will print larger than 8x10 for under $1000.00?

I've read and heard a great deal about the Epson 2000P printer. Is this the best Epson in that price range? How about the 1280?

The Canon 9000? Is that comparable to the 2000P?

Does HP even bear mentioning?

Any opinions would be welcome... and thanks!

Excellent Question!

I second your comment regarding HP - I am ready to buy an HP CP1700 primarily to print 11x17 photos. I have always had great luck with HP printers, seems like 2400x1200 should do fine, even with "only" four ink colors.

Am I out to lunch?

Sorry about not saying anything on the previous post, first time!

I just got my S9000. It is much better than I am. I printed the Canon pdf on the new D60 with several great pictures. Great!

The only problem is a 3 megapixel photo at A3+ is not as sharp as I would like, but it might just be me.

The HP designhet 10ps handsdown, this printer is getting excellant ratings all around the board. It's designed to support post script, has over 90% support for matching all pantone colors. It uses a new innovative system in which all the color tanks are seperate (6 color) and they do not move with the print head, they refill the print head as it needs more ink. This reduces the weight of the print head and allows for faster speeds. It's wide format, support networking and utilizes HP news pro media. It's designed to produce perfect proof prints for professional graphics. I have seen one in action at a office i contract with, prints blow the Epson 2000 out of the water, i mean these things look like they incredible!!!

The print head on the epsons (820 photo) is large made so somethin like the seramic used in the computer processors. I think ife expectancy of that think is not that geat.

the print head of the canon is small and metalic, and can be replaced by the user.

I have an s9000 I think is realy good. build quality is good to--E-20, C-3030 and E-100rs happy owner
