Can someone explain this bokeh effect?

Marius1 posted a nice gallery taken with the H9.

In it was a nice picture of a camel, into which I shamelessly pixel peeked. I saw the following pattern:

Can someone explain the saturn-shaped light dots? Normally I would think that dots of light take the shape of the light source or the lens opening, and thus are just circle for normal lenses, and rings for mirror lenses. But the H9 doesn't have a mirror lens.... so what is creating this strange pattern? Is it the optics, or some processing by the camera?

And just to show the value of pixel peeking, and how amazingly sharp the H9 could be, look at another part of the image
