I need a little help. Has anyone tried to print 6x4 size prints using the Kodak Ultima borderless paper on an HP? Specifically the HP 970Cxi. The HP 6x4 paper is 6"x4" with the addition of a tear-off tab, but the Kodak is about 8.25 x 5 13/16, with tear-off borders on all sides. My HP printing software does not know what to do with this paper so that it will print in the 6x4 central area (or maybe I don't know how to set it up). The Kodak Photo software I downloaded refuses to run in my PC (some sort of "handler not defined" error). Any software out there that will do the trick or any way to sole the "handler" problem? Thanks and sorry for the long post.

I don't know the answer to all your questions, but the 6x4" Epson Photo paper has a perforated edge all around and works very well in the HP printers. But I find it cheaper to buy A4 size Epson paper and print four photos on it then use a paper cutter to separate them.

You need to use the kodak software for that paper as it has the template built in for it. Dont know what to tell you if you can not get it working.

Stargazer I have a 970Cse printer and also hesitated to buy Kodak's 4x6 paper for that very reason. Instead I buy HP's 4x6 premium plus paper with tear-off tab from HP's website. A pkg. of 60 is $19.99 and sometimes I get coupons for my next HP purchase. I leave the tab attached since it allows for easier handling of the prints. Hopefully this link will work:

Stargazer,

I have an HP 722C and use exclusively the HP 4x6 paper. I tried other papers (Kodak including) but found that the HP gives me the best results.

I did try the Pictorico Phot Gallery Glossy (8x10) and found is was great! However, their Photo Glossy that comes in 4x6 size gives me pooer results than the HP paper.

I hope this helps.--LeeTee

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I guess I'll have to get the Kodak s/w "Handler not Defined" problem resolved or stick to the HP paper (the only one I've tried so far, but I do like the results ... now, if it would only dry a bit faster ...). Interesting input about the Pictorico paper, LeeTee, I haven't found this paper yet (so far, Ive only looked in Circuit City) but some folks seem to think highly of it. You'd think it would perform the same regardless of the paper's dimensions.

Try going into your HP printer settings (advanced tab) and lower the ink volume a bit. It shouldn't change the quality but you can do a test print to make sure.

Hi,

I have the HP Photosmart 1315 printer. I have tried many papers and to be honest, I do not like the way the prints come out on Kodak papers. I have even tried the newest Kodak paper (I think it is called Ultima) and am not happy with the results. I like the HP Matte photo paper best and usually stick to using the 4X6 with tab sheets. I love the way these prints come out. I have used many papers with great results but not quite as good as the HP matte. Another one I like almost as much (I use the 8 1/2 X 11 sheets) is the Epson Matte Paper - Heavyweight. It is $14.99 for 50 sheets at CompUSA and pictures come out very good on it. I tend to stick to non-glossy papers. I like the look better. Photos seem smoother to me plus it keeps fingerprints at bay. I have some photos I printed out on my fridge. They have been there with nothing over them to protect them and some of them have been there for a long time printed on these two papers. One of them is almost 3 years old (July 99) on HP Matte photo paper and looks just as good as when I printed it.

Sorry so long,
Kim

Stargazer,

I had to buy the paper on line http://www.pictorico.com I did find some pkgs in our local Super Food Store, Wegmans, but they have stopped carrying it.--LeeTee
