I'm just curious. I'm considering buying Adobe Premier for video editing, and I got to looking at PhotoShop. I generally use LE for minor touch ups, and aspect ratio cropping; in generall, quick preperation before I take them for printing. I doubt I'm ever interested in spending too long on any one picture, I take around 300-500 photos per month (family shots, young kids), and print 150-250 of them, usualy just in a 4x6 size.

Just wondering if it would be worth buying, I'm enjoying digital photography to the point I don't mind outfitting with nice tools, if I need them.

Thanks!

Im not sure what the le version comes with but I have full photoshop 6.0.1 and love it..thing to ask yourself is, are you lacking tools with your present software? If so then you may need to upgrade, if not why worry...but if you think you want to id say go for it..its well worth the money...Im teaching myself restoration a well as editing of photos so the full ps is just what I need...sounds like you are doing well with the version you have...ultimitely only you will decide if its justified due to your needs-- http://www.pbase.com/wbrosen/photoarthttp://www.pisite.com

It doesn't sound like you need all the features that a full version has, however it's like the thing people always say "Oh, I don't need that" but then they try it and find out how many cool things they could be doing and then say 'Wow, how did I ever live without it!' Realize that what you have is a 'Limited Edition' of PS 5.0. Even 5.5 was a major upgrade which included a History Palette, or in other words, mutiple undos, not just the last one you did. Now with 7 coming out, I think you will want this version, so just wait. Auto 'Color' correct which works. Amazing Healing Brush that cleans up scratches and dust and wrinkles like magic, and a file browser that shows thumbnails of everything in that file, just to name a few. I think it will be well worth it. It's due out in April.

For what it's worth, I don't know about the LE version but PS 5.0 does have a history palette.

Rufus -

You want to might browse through a couple Photoshop books at the book store, you may see a few topics/techniques that PS can do that you didn't realize, this might help you in your decision.

A heck of a lot, judging by the price difference. I think I would go with
Elements, first, before buying the full version.

The LE version does not have a History or Actions Pallete, two things that I find save me a lot of time. Elements may be more better suited for you if you don't think you need the full version.

I don't know about LE or Elements, I thought you were implying that LE was limited edition of 5.0 and the History palette didn't show up in PS until v. 5.5.

Whatever.

Thank you all for the comments. I'm not sure what I'll do yet, I think I'll ponder a few more days, spend a little time at the bookstore. It looks like they're offering a fee upgrade to version 7 if you buy now.

Thanks again!

Since you print so many photos, you might enjoy having PS. One thing that is missing on LE is the history pallet. The history pallet allows you to have multiple undos.

Does LE have layer styles? Does it have the style "color"? I use a layer set to color to easily correct color casts that are off.

LE does have masking, gausian blur, and cloning IMR.
