I don't thing the shadow or wrinkles under the eyes is something that bespeaks bad or incorrect photographic technique. I'd rather see Uncle Frank's pictures with those things which can easily be corrected in post process, as opposed to eliminating them with flash to the point that the faces have that bad or blown out flash look. I like the black/white couple shot and I think Uncle Frank captured the special bond they share. Works for me.
