Hi,

I am trying to decide between the above to lenses and wanted to get
some feedback on the IQ of both from people who might have used
them.

I have a D80 with 18-135mm and a 50mm/1.8 along with a SB600.
Going to shoot a friends wedding soon (there will be a PRO there as
well).

Since it will be an indoors event, I was wondering if Tamron with
its f2.8 would have any advantage over my current 18-135 when used
with Flash.

no, except for easier focusing (not faster) due to the brighter screen image.

If not, then maybe I can use my 18-135 in situations where I need
zoom, and get the nikon 85mm for doing portraits.

For this event specifically? Nice lens, I find as a wedding photog I prefer not to keep switching lenses, whats on the camera is better than what is not when things are happening.

Also, if Tamron will give me just as good portraits as the 85mm,
then I might be better off getting that as I would not have to
switch lenses during the event.

What do you think would be good for a wedding ?

the tammy is great for weddings, but as a guest photog the 18-135 is probably going to be your best bet anyway, especially if you are using your flash.

Thanks!
