Something like this comes to mind - i think fstop was f5 something,

gentle. I'd never in my wildest dreams shoot a wedding:

I meant an example how a flash can make a photo where the lens is stopped down look better ? Maybe i got it wrong. sorry.

Keep in mind that this is just my personal preference.

I shoot alot wide open, and with the 85/1,4 probebly alot more then the OP:-)

But its not just with the 85mm/1,4.

I guess its a matter of taste/style. Offcourse upclose the 85mm/1,4 will render a unmercyful thin dof, so unless i only want a small portion of the face in focus ill stopp it down.

But the freedom for me is to be able to shoot @F/1,4 with some distance to my subject, and still have great sharpness and sepparation from the bg. Offcourse fast glas takes in more light is also one of the main reasons. I rarely shoots above ISO 400.

A few examples.

85mm/1,4 @F/1,4

85mm/1,4 @F/2.0

Sigma 30mm/1,4 @F/1,4

Nikkor 28-70/2,8 F/2,8
