Backpacking through Asia

hi everyone on my first post

im backpacking through quite asia for about 6 months and as you can imagine there will be a range of photo ops from wide landscapes of everest to people shots in tokyo, wildlife in borneo/india, bustling city of hong kong, features like great wall/taj mahal etc.

i have a 400D with a canon 10-22mm, canon 50mm/1.8, canon 70-200mm/4/IS, kit lens and a sigma 400mm prime which i got cheap off ebay.

few questions as this is my first DSLR and whilst money is no object within reason, IQ/weight/size is:

  • which ones from my list would you take ? or others you would take ?

  • would a 1.4X/2X converter be useful with the 70-200mm ?

  • should i get a canon 24-105mm/IS instead of the 50mm prime ?

  • would a tripod be a good thing to bring ? i bought a monopod but i don't really get the point of it.
