Try This

Put your camera on Spot meter and then set the camera to manual plus extra shutter speed to compensate for blown highlights. Usually for the phase of moon you shot the shutter can be as high as 1/1000 sec. The use of low ISO helps with getting a clean image. Here is a sample of mine taken through an 8-inch F/5 1000mm telescope:
