Hello all....

I'm traveling for work quite a bit and find myself taking my camera along with me more and more. The more I do this the more I wan't to take only one bag, not one for my setup and one for my laptop. Leaving for the UK soon this is especially important to me as I hear you can only carry one back on in the UK.

So does anyone have any recommendations for a bag. I've seen a few, one by National Geographic, Tamron, etc. but not finding any reviews or experiences.

Usually I travel with my XTi, grip, 3 or so lenses, some batteries, cards, etc.

Any opinions, experiences, etc. are most welcome.

i use a crumpler shoulder bag and highly recommend it.

for your equipment list...the 7 million dollar home should be enough. mine has travelled around with me and it doesn't scream out camera bag.

if you want to carry your lap top along as well...then the brazilian dollar home may be the way to go?!

I was in the same boat as you. I got the Kata-103 backpack with laptop sleeve. I can carry my laptop, camera, 70-200f4, 28-105, 50f1.8, kit lens, flash and chargers with no problem. When I travel like you describe I usually put the chargers and flash in my checked luggage so I have room for my noise reduction headset, ipod, etc (all those little essentials that make a big difference on international flights).

I liked it because it didn't scream "camera bag", and yet was very funtional and built like a tank.

There is a great site that someone will probably point you to that shows pictures of many of the different bags with gear in them.

As of the end of Nov, London was very strictly enforcing the 1 carryon bag rule. Lots of business folks were in shock as they showed up from the US and were changing planes in London - they were told they had to check either their brief case or their other bag, no exceptions.

Happy travels,
Dave

Everyone thanks for the great ideas. I have to say the Kata and Crumpler are very appealing. I need to find a store where I can look at the two of these and make a choice.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Awww man... there goes the neighborhood! How's it goin, boss?

I've got a Lowepro Nova 3... very "efficient".. but basically means it's just a tad too small. It gets the job done though, and the built in rain cover came in handy a time or 2.

I've been contemplating the Lowepro slingshots myself...but the wife will probably kill me if I bought yet ANOTHER camera bag.

When I did Europe, I had a Tamrac 1/2 moon (hip) pack - best bag I ever owned for traveling. Unfortunately, the XT gear is all bigger than my 35mm stuff.

Ok here is another one for you ... I just bought the Naneu Pro Military Ops Tango bag and it is AWESOME. I am currently traveling and have my XTI, lenses etc as well as my laptop with me. The bag is actually more compact than I expected. Also for travel purposes it does have a Messanger Strap that hides away. So I can use this for my business meeting and then also travel with it and it looks and works great. As a women it is not too bulky or masculine looking.

I can highly recommend it!

Hi Paul,

I've been using the Tamrac Adventure 9 backpack recently and find it good. Sturdy and easy to carry. And the 3 section design suits me.... camera gear + laptop + some small travel stuff. Quite well padded too.
Here is a quick view (I got the grey-black one)

Different styles addressing the same need, travel with laptop and camera gear:

http://www.caselogic.com/slr_computer_backpack/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=57080

http://www.roadwired.com/store/Product.cfm?Productid=84

I have the Roadwired and it is great, especially if you combine business travel with your camera hobby. Only restriction, too large for some commuter flights or inter-European flights to carry on board.

A friend of mine just bought the Caselogic. Although I only had a brief look, I was impressed by its utility. Very smart design.
