Hi, all.

After all the threads about OOF pics that have been cropping up here recently, I thought I'd pass this along. I was in the Retouching Forum the other night and ran acroos a reference in a thread about deconvolution to a program called Focus Magic that can actually fix out of focus pictures! A web search led me here -
http://www.focusmagic.com

I read the info and downloaded the evealuation copy. Have played with it for a few days now and am happy to report that it actually will focus OOF pictures. Sometimes. That's the caveat. You have to play with the settings on each pic to get the best results and it doesn't always work - sometimes you'll get part of the picture more focused and trash other parts.

I found it particularly helpful in getting rid of the motion blur you get when you use a too slow shutter speed or your subject moves slightly.

Pretty amazing actually. And to buy is only $39. They say future plans include a Photoshop plugin, but the site hasn't been updated since last June, so who knows?

I think it's pretty cool. I mean I hardly EVER take OOF shots ;> ), but it allows me to keep just a few more shots. Every little bit helps, don'cha know?

Ok, I don't doubt you all... but HOW does it work?! I would think it impossible to make this filter, but apparently it has been done!

Go here and check out the thread, then follow the one listed there to the longer one with more background.

You and aruzinsky should probably talk. I'd guess you're both at the same technical level... If you can figure it out for we simpler folks, in language that isn't all math, please let us know, OK?
