I wouldn't be surprised if it has its own battery and motor to "aid" AF, wouldn't it need its own power source to keep that LCD running? I can't imagine even trying to "hand-hold" a beast like this, so VR/IS is pointless since you need to have it on a tripod. That front element looks larger than the diameter of my garbage can.

Granted, it might be designed so that only a selection of middle
elements move, so you don't need the torque of a 69 Camaro electric
starter to turn the dern thing.
