lens life expectancy

I'm a new DSLR owner and I am wondering how to invest my (limited ammount of) money in lenses. As I am not doing anything pro and I don't like birds my 18-70 DX and 50 1.8 are already quite enough so I am thinkng in buying one that will last a lot.

I am thinking in buying some of these (not all of them of course)

  • 70--300 VR

  • 85 1.8

  • 80-200 2.8

  • a wider Nikon than 50 (haven't even started really thinking about it)

This year I will probably buy one.

I am wondering which one will last more (on very moderate use)

I am thinking the one wth least electroncs shoulb be the best but I don't know. I also read and I am wodering if it's supid or not that there is some fungus taht eats the lesnes monstly in humid envorinment. Can this be true.

So, how much should a lens work properly and why?
Not necessarily the lenses mentioned above.
