>>>>>Challenge 138 - Information Thread<<<<<

Thank you, Katherine, for hosting Challenge 137! It was a challenging topic, and you did your usual excellent and supportive job of hosting. Kudos go as well to everybody who participated, whether by entering, commenting or voting, or any combination thereof. There were some great entries, so I feel all the more flattered that you chose my image out of all those outstanding pictures!

You are ALL cordially invited to participate in this Challenge, both in the 'eligible' and in the 'exhibition' galleries! We're all one, big, happy family now; and we enthusiastically welcome your full participation! Please read on for all the challenge info; and, if you have any questions at all, simply post them to this thread...someone will be more than happy to reply as soon as possible!

STF CHALLENGE 138: "At an Angle"

This is a theme I've been contemplating for a long time in the event that I ever won again ;-). The object of the challenge is twofold: Present images that either feature an angle ("the figure formed by two lines diverging from a common point") or that are taken "at an angle," that is, not head on. The field is wide open for this, and I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretations of a geometrical nature or from an "angular" perspective.

Challenge 138 began at 1:00 p.m. Turkish Standard Time (6:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, or 1100 GMT), Thursday, February 22, 2007 and will end Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at 9:00 p.m. Turkish Standard Time (2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, or 1900 GMT). The galleries will shortly be set up, and everyone will then have two full weekends to obtain images. Here is the link to the Challenge 138 main gallery page:

These guidelines are meant to help things run smoothly for all... and to serve as a handy reference to answer common questions. Thanks for reading through all this stuff again:

  • Up to three (3) images are allowed in each of the two galleries.

  • You can enter photos anonymously, by submitting your image & sending me an email indicating your real identity. My email address is: HelenPBetts@aol.com

  • Collaborating on entries is welcome. An artist can be involved in up to three collaborative efforts IN ADDITION TO the usual 3 individual images allowed.

  • Those who prefer to have critiques of their photos be more "critical," feel free to mark the image title with an asterisk ( )

  • There are no restrictions on post processing your photos before submitting them.

  • Please put a unique title and your name (identity choice) on each of your image thumbnails (e.g.,'Seeing Stars by HAL9000'). It really helps to keep voting problem issues to a minimum.

  • Please resize your images to no larger than 800 pixels on the longest side before uploading to PBase (can be larger if it's a panoramic image).

  • Please keep your questions & concerns posted in this thread for best response. Someone will address them as soon as possible.

  • Challenge time period will run from 1:00 p.m. Turkish Standard Time (6:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, or 1100 GMT), Thursday, February 22, 2007, and will end Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at 9:00 p.m. Turkish Standard Time (2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, or 1900 GMT). Timetables will be posted in the galleries. A separate voting thread will be posted shortly after the end of the Challenge period. (I hope I got these hours correct; please feel free to correct me as math is not my strong point :).

  • ELIGIBLE images must be taken with a Sony OR Konica Minolta digital camera and within the challenge time period. The winner of this gallery will host the next Challenge. All ELIGIBLE entries should at least include the camera model used and the date indicating when the photo was taken..."EXIF" data attached would be ideal (if available). "EXIF" data is a big help to a lot of viewers for a variety of reasons.

  • EXHIBITION images can be obtained with any camera at any time. If you do not want to host the next Challenge, this is the gallery you should post your images to.

Thanks for your cooperation
