Just to confirm that the exposure problems reported here are
genuine, let me add another voice to the chorus...

I have two M-series lenses (200mm F4 and 135mm), several A-series
lenses (both Pentax and Sigma), and with all of them in manual mode
it's the same story - with both my K10D (which has the recent new
firmware) and also my dad's with which I've also conducted some
tests. The exposure errors are different depending on how strong
the ambient light is, but they are real, and large.

I won't bore you with the details, but the bottom line is that
setting the shutter speed on the K10D, using stop-down metering
with the green button in manual mode, simply does not work.

Yes, it is a real problem.

A partial solution is to exchange the focusing screen with one from a Pentax *ist DS. That has worked for me. See this thread: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=21865718

It seems to have something to do with the brightness or coarsness of the focusing screen, but my K10D screen is now residing in my DS with, and the DS screen in the K10D, and both cameras deliver acceptable metering results - also on other modes than M.
