It is possible to do with G7 as it is with a DSLR?

No problem. Focus, then press MF and the focus is locked (fine-tuning is possible too). Point where you like, half-press, exposure is now locked. Recompose, shoot! It is possible to do with G7 as it is with a DSLR?
faster, because you stay in AF for the next shot:Focus, then press MF and the focus is locked

What is not documented (at least not in the manuals for the S70 and Pro1) is that pressing the MF button locks the focus to the distance you last focussed on (via half-press). The manuals say you should half-press and at the same time engage MF - depending on the button layout this varies between 'fiddly' and 'almost impossible'.Focus, then press MF and the focus is locked

Hi, Savas. Hmm...not sure what you're thinking. But nevertheless, you can map AFL to the shortcut key regardless of whether you're using flash or not.I take it that this technique only works without using flash?
The star key will lock exposure, flash or not. With flash, it does a Flash Exposure Lock (FEL) operation, i.e. issues a pre-flash to do expsoure evaluation and locks it.Roy - I meant the suggestions made earlier in this thread. Wondered
if the Star button reacted differently when an external flash is
affixed. I'll try the recommendations with and without to see what
happens!
