Having upgraded from the D70 to the D80 last month, I thought I would post one of my last D70 shots. This was taken in the Rocky Mountain National Park in October. The D70 was a very capable camera. After I dialed in the settings, I was very happy with it. The D80 advantages have been well documented here so I won't rehash. They are fairly minor when it really comes down to it, but significant enough for me to move on (my 45yr old eyes welcome the 2.5" lcd!). The D80 and I are fast becoming best buddies. Farewell old friend, hello new adventures.

I started to say your shot was really noisy when I realized you had caught a wonderful snow storm.

I love the falling snow you've captured, but when I'm reading on this forum, I seem to have noise on the brain.

Thanks for including us in your journey!

Thanks Ann,

I loved the fact the snow takes a second to figure out. To me it reminds me a pointalistic painting like this:

Or using excessively grainy film as a artistic technique like this:

Photos that don't look like photos always catch my eye for some reason. If anyone has any other examples of this please contribute

Snippppp.....

Ann!! - You got that right. I'll laugh about your response every time I think about it today.

I love them too. You can always see more than is really there if you try.

Show us more of your Colorado pictures, please!

I sold the D70. Hard to justify 2 DSLR's to my wife and rightfully so. If I did any professional work it would be another matter. But it is just a hobbie for me and even though I use it most every day, downtime due to repairs...etc will not be an issue to me. I always have my P&S handy on vacations for a backup.

Hi Shoe:

Very nice image, looks like a painting to me too.

I am in your same shoes, had a D-70, loved, turned 44 and eyes are not able to focus closely on small objects like a 1.8" screen. So I bought the D-80 about six months ago. It is a GREAT camera, you will love it.

Enjoy!
