Maybe some progress . . .

Hi FR, as I said I have some contacts in Japanese management circles . . .

I have used these and now I am in contact with Sony Japan customer service management (actually used to be KM service management, all staff were hired by Sony).

I have been told that former KM management is looking into this matter and are working on an action to satisfy the customers in the field. Not yet clear what this means.

I think the awareness at Sony (KM whatever is in the name) is improving and I expect them to come clean shortly.

Possibly a retrofit, a lower cost repair action or whatever. I was informed to wait for another couple of weeks. I will do so, I trust the person I have spoken to very much he is a very customer oriented former KM high ranking manager and has never let me down in the past.

On the product recall issue. That is probably where Japanese and EU law differ.

For a problem like this, where no danger or personal injury is at stake, there is still the responsibility in the EU for the vendor to repair the defects of an epidemic problem for free in a reasonable period after the purchase. 2 years for electronic products is a minimum.

As pointed out, going to consumer organizations means war, the consumer organizations frequently don't want to battle the likes of Sony.
So I am trying my own network and so far there is progress.

I will come back to this forum if things develop favorably.

Regards,

Peter
