I hate to disagree . .

Sony do have the responsibility to repair all KM camera's. That is the "fun" of acquiring a business.

Sony bought the benefits (all the technology, installed base etc.) and also "enjoy" the less nice sides of the former KM business.

Whether or not Sony can and will send the bill to (remaining) KM shareholders is a matter which is settled in the contract between Sony and KM. These provisions are based on what has come out of the detailed business audits and assessments (so-called due diligence investigations) that are always executed before take over or mergers.

So I feel it is a matter of making noise and force the EU consumer organisations to get the smell of this.

In the meantime I am both trying to contact a responsible person at former KM customer support as well as figuring our what Sony is doing in Japan. The rumour is that in Japan Sony is repairing the 7D and 5D for free.

Anyone has solid info on this?

Peter
