Re: My take on getting a repair.

My guess is that there will be NO Extra extended outside of
warranty repairs on any of the KM cameras. When KM sold out to
Sony, I'm sure some legal team of lawyers, made sure that Sony
would not be on the hook for any design flaws from KM. And this
repair issue was known to the 2 companies by the time of the
takeover.
Sony will probable honor any problems during regular warranty periods,
but after that, you are on your own.

I can hear it now, from Sony.

Get rid of that old broken down KM camera.
( It was nothing but trouble anyway.)

Buy a new Sony Super DSLR Wiz-bang, Series A-xxx.xx!

Comes complete with Super-Duper Image Stabilization &
Solid Gold Lenses!

(Price of lens dependent on Gold prices at time of purchase.)
Get Yours Today!!

It would be in Sony's best interest to get rid of the old KM cameras
as soon as possible. Not much incentive to repair the old stuff.

Just my take on the whole thing.

Well if that is the case then they are likely to lose mose KM customers in the future..I most def wont stick about with them unless they sort themselves out a bit..

As for the issue itself...I can but wonder why it did happen, and doesnt anymore!

Few reports of total failures..least on the 5D side..that is something.

IF it rears its ugly head again..off it goes!

Trouble is i have to pay postage...hmmmmm
