Show us your RAW, bird shooters

This post is inspired by some of the really sharp images that Liquidstone shows using all sorts of stacking, and high ISO etc. I always wonder why my RAW images look so fuzzy. I decided the best way to find out is show and tell. The following image is not my sharpest. I could drag out a 500F4 tripod shot in good light, but who ever gets to make such shots?.

This is real life using my 70-200 with a 1.4X, poor light, ISO800, shot through a clean window, hand held. I see no signs of shake, so it should be sharp but perhaps noisy and lacking contrast. This is typical for bird shots, usually I never get this close. All are 100%.

Straight RAW conversion, camera default settings.

Raw conversion in CS3, WB changed to cloudy, add 10 vibrance and 10 saturation.

Same image, but after running Neat Image to reduce noise.

Same image after noise and curves, and some shadow highlight.

After sharpening. Fog buster, 20,40,0 and USM/Luminance sharp 300,.3,0

You can see the full image here.
