but the solidity of the information seems to be adequate. So I guess it is true and we have hit the nerve of the "first frame black problem".
Ed you are right we have to expect Sony to come clean.

By the way just today (see News section of this website) Canon announced a recall (short cut in the battery compartiment). So some vendors do take this approach. In Holland, where I live, there is a widespread, TV/newspaper announced product recall every month or so.

As mentioned it is compulsory for vendors in the EU as soon as an error is or turns out to be epidemic/design by nature.

Of course vendors try to stay away from it as long as they can.
