For soccer, anticipate the shot...

Pre focus to a particular area and take burst shots. also, i like to keep the shutter speed above 1/500 sec to catch the moment with out motion blur. I do this at the expense of iso. Take lots of shots. probable 400-500 per soccer game. you will end up with maybe 15 or 20 that you really like.

i used to shot with the fz20. the fz7 is a bit faster focus, and that will hel;p.

Also, get a monopod. the IS does not work with moving targets.

Idoor shooting (gym) is tougher. need to boost iso, and sometimes ithose gyms lights can give the awful yellow look. I do better with the dslr here.
