My K100 and K10 both have a front-focus issue

I'm only posting this after some hesitation since I don't intend at all to slam Pentax or its products. I've been taking photos long enough now (30+ years) that I understand gear problems can sometimes happen.

I plan to send in the K100 for service next week. I also have a second K10 on the way...we'll see how it performs. The FF is slight enough with both cameras that apertures smaller than f/4 or so tend to mask it. I first noticed it last week when giving a new 70mm f/2.4 a test run. This led me to check other lenses.

Here's an example of the issue with the K10, taken indoors wide open at ISO 1600 with the 70mm. These are full-res crops. First the autofocus shot:

Now with manually corrected focus:

I suspect in my case the FF is a calibration issue since the amount of FF is consistent from shot to shot and lens to lens. Regardless I'll get it fixed so I can get on with taking photos.
